How to: Effortlessly Mix Prints

Hello!

Mixing prints is one of the best ways to show your personal style. Mix prints as much or little as you like. You can go with larger prints or smaller ones. You can choose prints that are the same color or different colors. Mixing prints should be fun! I chose to mix camouflage and leopard print below. Here are a few tips when you’re mixing prints:

1. Keep the size of the print in mind- If you feel overwhelmed with mixing prints, consider the size of the prints. Smaller prints are easier to work with.

2. Consider the distance of the prints- Wearing a printed hat and printed shoes creates space between the prints and makes them less overwhelming.

3. Keep the colors in mind- When I’m wearing prints I try to tie my outfit together with neutral colors. For example: if you’re wearing prints that are very colorful, a few neutrals that will bring the look together are jeans, black pants, a white shirt or brown shoes.

What Does Living Boldly Mean?

Hello!

What’s living boldly mean? I used to think it was impossible to live boldly. Especially when our world continuously sends messages on how we should live, dress, act, and talk. Then I remembered, we’re not of this world. You see, God calls us to be in this world but not of it. What does that mean? It means that we’re not supposed to fit in. It means that we’re different. Fitting in won’t work because we were created to stand out. Living boldly to me means aligning all of my actions with who God created me to be.

Hello,

I’ve been busy with Luke and Queen Styles Boutique! This year’s pop-up shops are different. I need to stop and pump for Luke. Which means I need coverage while I’m away. I’m grateful to have great friends and family who are helping me during this new season. Not to mention a husband who delights in encouraging me.

Here are a few looks from this month. All looks have pieces from Queen Styles

Homecoming Weekend

Hello!

Homecoming weekend was this weekend at my alma mater. I love homecoming weekend because it’s always great seeing old faces and catching up and it reminds me of how much I have grown as a person. Don’t get me wrong, I know that I still having growing to do. I think we all do but sometimes we tend to focus only on the negative. I don’t know about you, but I’m so quick to beat myself up. I’m quick to remind myself of a goal that’s not completed. Or how I should’ve done a certain task better. While I was walking on campus and driving past familiar buildings, I started to think about who I was back then and the woman I am now. I realized just how much I’ve grown. I encourage you to do the same this week. When you’re tempted to beat yourself up, just remember how far you’ve grown and focus on the positive.

How to: Save on Winter Fashion

Hello,

One of the keys to saving on winter clothes is knowing when to shop for winter clothes. Right now, most stores are getting ready for spring and summer, which means they’re marking down the prices on their winter items. What does that mean for you and me? It means we have a great chance to save money. Queen Styles Boutique is having a winter sale that starts today. Here are some of the items you can save on:

On selected items, you’ll find up to 40% off. The sale lasts for a week. It’s a great time to shop and save!

How to: Make Any Outfit Complex

Hello,

I’ll admit it. I’m obsessed with the “choker” trend. It could be due to the fact that I grew up watching the show “Clueless”. The choker trend really brings me back to that time. So I was really excited to wear this dress from Queen Styles Boutique. I always try to make my outfits complex and add elements of visual interest. Sometimes that can be hard to do without overpowering your look. That’s why I think less is more when you’re layering. If you think you’ve gone too far, try taking off the last piece you added. See how your outfit looks. If it looks too plain, add on the last piece. If it looks better without the last piece, you’ve achieved the perfect balance for your outfit.

Merry Christmas

Hello,

Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. It represents the promise God gave us: His son. It’s a promise we love to celebrate! This morning we went to Christmas Eve service. I wore some bell bottoms that I’ve been wanting to wear for a while. I’m so happy they’re coming back in style. I paired them with a layered shirt from Queen Styles Boutique and a vest to make the look more complex.

How to: Balance Dark and Rich Tones

Hello,

The weather has been so back and forth recently. One day it’s been cold and the next day, it’s hot. This weekend it actually snowed so I took advantage of it by wearing some fall and winter wear. I love having fun with neutral tones. It’s fun to combine colors like grey and black with rich colors like this emerald green hat. Whenever I’m wearing dark and rich tones during the day, I like to balance them with lighter tones. This peach sweater kept me nice and warm, plus it balanced out the darker tones in my outfit. Having this balance creates a look that isn’t too “heavy” or “weighed down”.

Turtleneck Weather

Hello!

In my last post, I discussed how we didn’t receive a lot of winter weather this year. Well over the weekend the Carolinas received a touch of winter weather. To be honest, we received about an inch of snow that melted before noon but it gave me an excuse to wear one of my favorite turtlenecks. In my opinion turtleneck is never go out of style. They are timeless and classic. Throwback photos of Audrey Hepburn prove that.

Faux Fur Jacket

Happy Monday!

I’m so ready for spring! In the Carolinas, we have had a very mild winter. Usually we have snow and ice a few times in February but this year, it snowed once in January and that’s it! So this past weekend when it dropped to cooler temperatures, I thought it was the perfect time to bring out my faux fur jacket. I love this jacket! Aside from the fact that it keeps me warm, it’s so fierce and chic. It’s one of my favorite winter jackets. I want to know, what are some winter fashions you’re trying to wear before the warm weather is here? Comment below!
