Asheville Trip

Hello!

Asheville, North Carolina is one of my favorite places to visit. When I’m there, it always reminds me to slow down. The pace is just so relaxing. Life can be hectic at times and if we’re not careful, we can get caught up in the busyness of it all and miss out on the simple moments. It doesn’t hurt that the scenery is so beautiful. Here are a few pictures of my trip.

Happy Monday!

I was talking to a friend the other day and I was so frustrated. I said “I feel like all I ever do is run errands.” We talked about this for a while and finally he asked “When do you need to get all this stuff done?” I thought about it for a while and realized that most of these errands didn’t have an immediate due date. I just wanted to get them done and cross them off of my list.

I’ve been thinking about that ever since. How many of us are going through life just “crossing stuff off of our list?” I’m not saying that you should be careless and not responsible. There are times when you just have to “adult” and there’s no way around that. I’m talking about those other times. The other times when stuff can wait. The other times when we have the choice to slow down and just smell the roses. So that’s a goal that I’ve set for myself. Just to stop every now and then and smell the roses.

What’s Your Vision for 2017?

Hello!

I hope you are having a great weekend! This morning I went to church and the message was about finding your vision for 2017. I’ve been thinking about that all day to be honest with you. I have goals I want to accomplish for this year but I never stopped to think about my vision for this year. I think that’s why resolutions don’t always stick. We tend to think of a resolution as a one time occurrence or a temporary fix instead of a long-term objective that can increase the value of our lives. It’s time to start challenging ourselves and thinking about the vision for our lives and how 2017 can get us closer to that vision. I’m taking some time to meditate on what my vision is for my life and I challenge you to do the same!

How to: Casually Wear Liquid Leggings

Hello!

TGIF! I’m so happy it’s Friday plus it’s Good Friday which is something to be happy about. Another thing I am happy about is the fact that today starts my Spring Break! I won’t be taking a trip this year but it’s still a great time to decompress and relax. One of the ways I like to do that is just by taking a walk. It doesn’t have to be a workout every time but every now and then I like to just sit back and admire nature. It’s an inexpensive way to have a quick change in scenery.

How to Make Dress Pants Casual

I hope you all are having a great weekend. Being that the Carolina Panthers are in the Super Bowl, the energy is electric here in Charlotte, NC.  We went out to grab a bite to eat and almost every person we saw was decked out in panther gear! It’s truly an exciting time for Charlotte, NC. It’s also pretty cold! I like to switch up my weekend look. Sometimes, I wear jeans, skirts, dresses or dress pants. It’s easy to think that dress pants are simply for work but you can incorporate them into a casual setting as well. The key is to compliment the dress pants with a casual pieces. This sweater and denim collard shirt really help to make these pants look more casual.

How to Wear Culottes

I knew I had to get these culottes when I saw them on sale. I’ve talked about how important it is for me to have a multifunctional wardrobe in the past. I’m a full time student who is going back for a second degree, full time employee and an active blogger. Not to mention I love spending time with my family, friends and husband. I think whatever your life calls for, you need to have a wardrobe that supports everything you do.

Culottes are easy to style and can be worn year round. You can pair them with a pair of wedges in the summer or boots during the winter. I paired these printed boots with this outfit just to give it some edge. I don’t like for my outfits to be too predictable. I think there should always be an element of surprise. I can’t wait to wear these again!

In All Black

I rarely wear all black. I just put the finishing touches on classes and am on a two week break from classes and work so I felt the need to relax a little. One of the great things about wearing all black, is if the fit is correct you don’t have to accessorize as much because it’s already a bold statement. You have to make sure the outfit you’re wearing fits your body correctly, if not you’ll look like the outfit overwhelms you and you’re beautiful shape won’t be defined.

Friday Night

It’s a little cooler this weekend and I’m loving it. Hopefully the cooler weather is here to stay. Tonight I went out with my husband for his work. I wanted to be comfortable but presentable too. If you haven’t noticed, I like my sweaters to be oversized. Maybe it reminds me of being wrapped in a blanket.

Style Tip: rolling up a pair of skinny jeans right above an ankle boot can add edge to any outfit.

Feeling Gray

I never really liked dressing in gray but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown to appreciate the simplicity of it. Gray doesn’t have to be boring. Gray can be bold and make a statement with the right accessories to back it up. When I was younger, I thought I always had to wear bright colors to stand out but I’ve learned that’s not true at all!

We went to a football game today and it was pretty chilly. Fall is definitely in full effect in the Carolinas now. I wanted to keep my head warm and it today gave me the perfect excuse to wear this hat from H&M ( I’m obsessed with it).
