If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve heard me talk about my belief that the best outfits are complex. Making an outfit complex adds more detail to the eye and in return, is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Making an outfit complex in colder weather is a lot easier to me. In the warmer months, you have to get a little more creative. One way to do this is to belt a scarf as part of your look (this can be seen in my “Own It” post). Another way to make a look more complex is to add a kimono to your look. It’s lightweight so you don’t have to worry about it being to warm. I opted to do this in the look below but I’ll be doing a lot more looks with kimonos!
Kimono: Charlotte Russe

You know what they say: April Showers Bring May Flowers. In gloomy weather, I love to wear a pop of color. I like to think of it as a reminder to stay positive. Whether it’s a bright color or a fierce print, it’s a great reminder that no matter what the gloomy circumstances are I need to stay focused on positive things.
I think the same attitude can be taken toward life. Even when life isn’t going the way you planned, you still need to stay positive. When circumstances are less than what you expected, it’s so important to have a positive reminder. For me I always think about what God has already done for me. I think about the times He healed me. I think about the times He granted me with the grace to get through certain situations. Thinking of the good things motivates me to move forward with a positive attitude regardless of my circumstances.
I love wearing florals, especially during the summer season. Sometimes florals, or prints in general, can be overwhelming. If you agree with that, I always suggest to break up the print. For example, instead of wearing a fully printed dress try to wear a floral top and jeans or a solid shirt with a floral printed skirt. You get the jest of it. Don’t let florals overwhelm you! Here’s an example of how I wore a floral printed skirt this weekend.

I hope you are having a great week! By now, I’m sure you have seen that Coachella has kicked off. Every year, I say that I will go next year…and while I still haven’t been yet, I usually dress in an outfit that I would wear at Coachella. So I’ve deemed myself as the Coachella Wannabe. One day, I will be there but until then, I’ll fake it, till I make it. This is one of my favorite jumpsuits to wear. There’s no blending in with the crowd with this bold statement. Here’s what I wore:
Scarf: Nordstrom’s Rack
Denim Jacket: New York & Company
Mixing prints can be a very fun way to personalize your outfit. There are different ways and variations to do this. If you’re new to the trend, start small. If you feel daring and advanced with this trend, go for it!
Sometimes, people look at me in a weird way when I’m wearing an outfit that has mixed prints. I know what they are thinking: “that girl obviously doesn’t know how to match her clothes.” The truth is, I know how but I don’t really care what others have to say about my style. You should be the same way with your personalized style. If it looks good on you and you feel like a rockstar wearing it, then don’t think twice about wha others are thinking! Here’s an example of how I mixed prints:
Jacket: Old Navy
High Waisted Jeans: Forever21

I’m loving the prints H&M used for this Fall collection. They give off a 60s and 70s vibe that I love. I can’t wait to pair this dress with an opaque pair of tights for Winter but for now, I’m trying to squeeze as much use out of these gladiators.
Hat: Old Navy

Flatforms is a shoe trend that has made its’ way onto the runways and into our closets. I will admit to being a little apprehensive about this trend but I decided to try it. I got a few compliments on them and they are very comfortable to wear. Here how I wore this trend. Would you try it?
Shirt: Old Navy
Shorts: Jordache for Wal-Mart
We have been running errands and finishing up our Christmas shopping on this beautiful Sunday. I wanted to of course be comfortable but stylish too. I like to look effortless but put together at the same time. I purchased this scarf at Forever21 and absolutely it! It’s fun to wear scarves as turbans sometimes just to switch up your look. This H&M striped shirt works with this outfit because my pants and navy and navy is a neutral. When you think of prints like that, they are a lot less intimidating. This printed H&M shirt just gives this outfit the pop that it needs. The shoes were purchased at Target. Happy Sunday 🙂
This skirt was a thrift store find. Need I say more?
