I just got back from attending a Bachelorette party in Miami and had an awesome time. I had forgotten how much I miss living in an environment that is so rich with culture. In Miami, the culture is in the food, music, and the way people dress, and talk. I started to realize how inspired I felt and wondered when was the last time I felt that inspired. I really missed having that inspiration. Before I started to go down that negative path of thinking, I started to think about the resources I have now that could inspire me. There are so many times we are waiting for a place or someone to inspire us but we have to realize that instead of waiting, we have the power to inspire ourselves. Don’t get me wrong, I think drawing inspiration from people and places is very important but there are so many other things we can be inspired by. It could be the sunset, sunrise, your loved ones or yourself. Together, lets make a habit of taking control over what inspires us. Feel free to tell me something’s that inspire you in the comments.

I hope this post finds you well. I’m so excited for fall. The cool breeze is finally here and I can’t wait to indulge in pumpkin patches, cider and scarves. This season isn’t just a symbol for these things though. To me, when the seasons change it also is a symbol for new beginnings. The new season signifies something new on the horizon. Yes, I know that fall comes every year but it’s a new year. Fall 2016 has never been here before. Which means you have a fresh start. I don’t like to wait for New Years Eve to make new goals. I like to revisit the goals I set for myself often and this is the perfect time to do that.
So whoever you are and whatever you’re going through, let this season be a fresh start for you. Maybe it’s a new job, relationship or a skill you’re going to diligently learn. I wish you good luck and I know that you’re going to “knock it out of the park.”
Dress: Old Navy
Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless

Is it me, or does it seem like the summer is flying by? I know we have several weeks left of summer but as I’m seeing more ads for fall fashion, I’m getting a little anxious of letting summer go. I’m trying to squeeze in every last summer outfit that I can. Today I wanted to wear one of my favorite summer staples: gladiators. Gladiators are so fun to wear. I always suggest wearing gladiators with an outfit that shows some of your leg. It helps to elongate the leg line and makes you appear taller. Here’s how I wore a pair of mine:
Romper: New York & Company
Tank Top: Marshalls

Wow. It still feels surreal that I graduated. I worked so hard and even when I got sick, I decided not to withdraw from classes. Walking across the stage on Friday was truly rewarding! I can’t say what happens next for me. I’m not sure about you, but moments of transition aren’t always easy for me. Maybe it’s due to my knee-jerk reaction to control every situation (I’ve been that way since I was little). I started stressing about my next move when I realized that worrying about the future takes away from the current moment. I had a lot of friends and family who came to celebrate with me this weekend and focusing on the negative only diminished this positive moment.
So I say to you, whether you are a graduate or just someone thinking about your future, RELAX. Enjoy right now. The future will always take care of itself. Things have a way of falling into place when we stop trying to arrange the future to match our perfect plan. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t have a plan. What I’m saying is to be open and flexible to make any changes to your perfect plans for your future.
Graduation week is here! I’m so excited and can’t wait to walk across the stage. This will be my second time completing college but this time is different. It’s different because I decided to go back to extend my education about something that I’m passionate about: Fashion Marketing. I’ve completed my portfolio and my showcase is this week! To celebrate, we made a road trip to Asheville, NC. I love it there. It’s almost like I feel disconnected from the world, but in a good way. Here’s a glimpse of our trip.
Gotta love these three day weekends! This weekend is known as the unofficial start of summer. It’s time for us to have a little bit of fun and relax. This weekend isn’t just about relaxing and attending cook outs though, it’s also about remembering those who lost their lives while fighting for our country. No matter what you’re doing this weekend, remember to pause and think about those brave soldiers.
From me to you, I hope you all enjoy this weekend! If you want to see what I’m up to this weekend, follow me on snapchat: DeneaGM
Yes, I know Easter was yesterday but I wasn’t able to blog. I spent my day with my husband. We went to church and then dinner. It was a low-key Easter for us but it’s one that I needed. Easter is a great day to be reminded of hope. It’s a day that reminds me no matter what I’m facing, there’s always the presence of victory in the near future. Whatever you’re facing today, know that you are loved and victory is in your near future! I hope you enjoyed Easter with people you love.
I love this midi-skirt I found. The color adds just enough pop to any outfit. Here’s what I wore:
Skirt: New York & Company
Shirt: Forever 21
P.S.- My face is still swollen from getting braces.

Spring is almost here! With the weather warming up just a bit and the sun out, I decided to wear shorts today. I’ve shared that one of the reasons I used to get made fun of was due to my legs. I was tall and lanky growing up, which meant that I looked different. I used to hate wearing shorts, skirts and dresses. Now, I’ve learned to embrace my lanky legs whenever I can. They’re just one of the factors that make me unique. Whatever makes you unique, embrace it!
P.S.- I know these kicks are a little spotted on the tip but I still love them!
I’ve got a “three piece rule”that I’ve been following for a while. It’s basically a rule that states you need to add a third article of clothing to your outfit to make it more complex. That third piece can be a blazer, vest or one of my favorites: a sleeveless jacket. The third piece should make tie your outfit together. I got this sleeveless jacket on sale for just $5.50 at Tj Maxx. You can’t beat that!
Sleeveless Jacket: Tj Maxx
Hat: Old Navy
Boots: Old Navy
