I’ve been busy with Luke and Queen Styles Boutique! This year’s pop-up shops are different. I need to stop and pump for Luke. Which means I need coverage while I’m away. I’m grateful to have great friends and family who are helping me during this new season. Not to mention a husband who delights in encouraging me.
Here are a few looks from this month. All looks have pieces from Queen Styles

Asheville, North Carolina is one of my favorite places to visit. When I’m there, it always reminds me to slow down. The pace is just so relaxing. Life can be hectic at times and if we’re not careful, we can get caught up in the busyness of it all and miss out on the simple moments. It doesn’t hurt that the scenery is so beautiful. Here are a few pictures of my trip.

I hope this post finds you well. I’ve been getting ready for Shop Small Saturday. American Express annually holds this event to shine light on small businesses. It was truly an amazing experience! Running Queen Styles Boutique has opened my eyes to the importance of supporting and investing local businesses. Before owning Queen Styles Boutique, it didn’t occur to me that when you and I make the decision to shop in local businesses, we are choosing to invest in our communities. When we shop in local businesses, we are validating dreams. Here’s a picture from yesterday:

I visited Treehouse Vineyards this past weekend and had a blast. It was nice recharging my batteries and relax a bit. I guess you could say that I was inspired by nature. This time of year, the leaves are changing and it’s so beautiful to witness. Some say you shouldn’t mix yellow and brown and red. I will admit I thought I would look like a hot dog at first but I really liked mixing these colors. Fashion is supposed to be fun. If you like mixing colors, do it. If your wardrobe consists of only black and you like it, own it! I think the moment we stop wearing what expresses who we are is the moment fashion stops being the creative force it was it intended to be. So whatever your wardrobe consists of, as long as it expresses who you are, own it!

For my anniversary with my husband, we went to Aspen, Colorado. It was breathtaking. The people there were rarely on their phones and spent time reading newspapers. It reminded us that we needed to slow down too. We packed only a carry-on bag so I didn’t have room to bring my camera but I did take some pictures:
Right before our couples massage. It was so relaxing!

We rode a gondola to the top of Aspen Mountain. It was beautiful!
It snowed on and off for two days!

It was a wonderful trip!

This past week, I celebrated my birthday. I celebrate my birthday for a full week. I believe that your birthday is not “just another day.” Your birthday is a gift. You e been gifted with another year of life and that should be celebrated. It was a great day to do some self-reflection. I realized that I’ve come a long way. I’m not as critical of myself and I’m way more balanced than I was a year ago. I’m a lot more patient with myself and less judgmental of my emotions. I’m not perfect, of course but I think recognizing my growth is a step in the right direction towards my purpose.
It might not be your birthday but maybe you need some self-reflection. When was the last time you were kind to yourself? The last time you were sad, angry, or upset did you judge yourself or acknowledge that you are a human being who has emotions? Moving forward, lets both take a vow that we’ll choose to be a lot kinder to ourselves.

This week I was traveling between Charlotte, Wilmington and Greenville. Thanksgiving week is usually a little hectic for us because we try to split up time between our two families and it’s always worth it. There’s something about being around family that just recharges my batteries. Below are two looks I wore this past week:
This first look was when we were downtown Wilmington, NC. Wilmington is a very laid-back place and I really appreaciate that. I’ve been waiting to wear tights, so when it finally was about forty degrees I pulled these tights out with no hesitation.
Boots: Old Navy
This second look was when I went Black Friday Shopping. I haven’t gone Black Friday shopping in years! I’ve forgotten how hectic it can be but I had fun nonetheless.
Hat: Old Navy
Boots: Old Navy
It seems like fall has turned into winter in a matter of days here in North Carolina. I was a little thrown off on how to adjust to be honest. I missed the warm weather of summer but I’m so ready for sweater weather. I felt like I was in a state of limbo. When I was growing up, my mom would always equate the seasons changing in terms of weather to the different seasons that we go through as people. One season may be filled with one success after another, while another season may be filled with one trial after another. One thing is for certain though: seasons change. There’s often a period of being uncomfortable during this transition. You’re trying to hold on to one season or maybe you’re anxiously awaiting the next season in your life.
I’m not sure if you’re in the middle of a season right now or a period of transition but the good news is, whatever you’re going through right now will pass. I encourage you to be patient where you are. Soak up any lessons that are in front of you. Don’t get discouraged if you’ve been in one season too long and don’t see anything changing. Gods working everything for your favor right now. Trust in His timing!
While we’re in a state of limbo here, I’ve been layering with scarves to help with the awkward weather. Just like this:
Sweater: J Crew
Boots: Old Navy

I’m sending positive vibes your way as Tuesday comes to a close. A few weeks ago I posted my “Fall Wishlist” and a pair of sparking boots was on that list. I’ve been searching and searching for the perfect pair and I found them! To me, these boots were perfect because they didn’t look like I was trying to pair them with a costume. The younger me would only dream of wearing these boots. I’ll be honest with you, I second guessed my look before I left the house and wondered what people would think about my bold boots. I know I’m not the only one who has had that thought. Maybe it wasn’t about clothes for you. Maybe you had something to say but kept it to yourself because you were afraid of how others would think of you. Maybe it was a really difficult choice you had to make but you weren’t sure if others would agree with your decision. Well, let me encourage you today to do it! Say it! Wear it! Whatever that thing is for you, don’t second guess yourself. Don’t worry about what others think. People will always have something to say right? So give them something to talk about it.
