What’s living boldly mean? I used to think it was impossible to live boldly. Especially when our world continuously sends messages on how we should live, dress, act, and talk. Then I remembered, we’re not of this world. You see, God calls us to be in this world but not of it. What does that mean? It means that we’re not supposed to fit in. It means that we’re different. Fitting in won’t work because we were created to stand out. Living boldly to me means aligning all of my actions with who God created me to be.

I hope you are having a wonderful week so far! I love wearing my pink faux fur vest. It’s a great layering piece anytime I need to make an outfit a little more complex. I’ve shared before, that I think some of the best outfits are a little complex. For example, instead of just wearing a t-shirt and jeans you may want to add a third piece (jacket, scarf, or vest) to make the outfit complex. Adding that third piece is also great way to make your look more aesthetically pleasing. The look below started out as just a plaid shirt dress and grey jeans but by adding the faux fur vest, it not only gave this look a little extra pop but it also helps me show off my personal style as well.
Shirt Dress: J Crew
Faux Fur Vest: Target
Boots: Old Navy
Next week I will be giving away a gift card to one of my favorite brands! Be sure to follow me on socials to see how you can win!
I hope you are having a great weekend! This morning I went to church and the message was about finding your vision for 2017. I’ve been thinking about that all day to be honest with you. I have goals I want to accomplish for this year but I never stopped to think about my vision for this year. I think that’s why resolutions don’t always stick. We tend to think of a resolution as a one time occurrence or a temporary fix instead of a long-term objective that can increase the value of our lives. It’s time to start challenging ourselves and thinking about the vision for our lives and how 2017 can get us closer to that vision. I’m taking some time to meditate on what my vision is for my life and I challenge you to do the same!
P.S. Don’t forget at the end of the month, I’ll be posting about a giveaway! So stay tuned on my socials!
I hope you all have been having an awesome week so far. In 2017, I’m taking more fashion risks. In other words, I’m stepping outside of my comfort zone. I think every now and then, it’s important to get uncomfortable with certain things because it helps you grow. Normally, I don’t wear turtlenecks but I’m switching it up this year. Here’s how I wore a turtleneck today:
P.S.- the brand that made my trench coat is the brand I’m doing a gift card giveaway for.
Dress: Calvin Klein
Trench coat: Zara
Necklace: Banana Republic

I’m sending positive vibes your way as Tuesday comes to a close. A few weeks ago I posted my “Fall Wishlist” and a pair of sparking boots was on that list. I’ve been searching and searching for the perfect pair and I found them! To me, these boots were perfect because they didn’t look like I was trying to pair them with a costume. The younger me would only dream of wearing these boots. I’ll be honest with you, I second guessed my look before I left the house and wondered what people would think about my bold boots. I know I’m not the only one who has had that thought. Maybe it wasn’t about clothes for you. Maybe you had something to say but kept it to yourself because you were afraid of how others would think of you. Maybe it was a really difficult choice you had to make but you weren’t sure if others would agree with your decision. Well, let me encourage you today to do it! Say it! Wear it! Whatever that thing is for you, don’t second guess yourself. Don’t worry about what others think. People will always have something to say right? So give them something to talk about it.
I’ve got a “three piece rule”that I’ve been following for a while. It’s basically a rule that states you need to add a third article of clothing to your outfit to make it more complex. That third piece can be a blazer, vest or one of my favorites: a sleeveless jacket. The third piece should make tie your outfit together. I got this sleeveless jacket on sale for just $5.50 at Tj Maxx. You can’t beat that!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’ve always loved this holiday. Whether you are single or in a relationship, it’s a day that is dedicated to celebrating love. I do believe that we should always take the time to celebrate love, but today feel free to remind someone you love them by writing them a note or simply spending quality time with them. Feel free to show yourself some love too. After all, you deserve it.

Mixing stripes is probably one of my favorite prints to mix and match. For this look I stuck with black, brown, grey and blue. The yellow in this shirt adds a little something extra to the look but doesn’t overwhelm it. Layering was key with this look. I wanted to add some definition to my waist so I added the black belt to pull everything together.

It’s been rainy and cold here in the Carolinas and we got a little stir crazy just sitting in the house. We decided to try one of the local breweries I town and had a blast!
You’ve probably noticed that I don’t really match my outfits and I don’t really have a particular style. I have two philosophies on my outfits. The first one is they shouldn’t be boring or too expected. I’ve believed that since I was little. Matching my clothing just isn’t me. I used to be bullied for a lot of reasons and how I dressed was one of them. Overtime though, I just learned to not really care what other people thought of me. I learned that my unique perspective was a gift. The second philosophy is what I wear should match how I feel. Sometimes I feel really lady like and want to wear a skirt and heels and other times I want to wear a pair of jeans and sneakers. As long as what I’m wearing flatters my body and makes me happy, that’s all that matters to me. I don’t really have a style and don’t fit into a category….and I’m okay with that. If you feel the same way, like you don’t fit into a category, know that you’re not alone. I’m right there with you.
I rarely wear all black. I just put the finishing touches on classes and am on a two week break from classes and work so I felt the need to relax a little. One of the great things about wearing all black, is if the fit is correct you don’t have to accessorize as much because it’s already a bold statement. You have to make sure the outfit you’re wearing fits your body correctly, if not you’ll look like the outfit overwhelms you and you’re beautiful shape won’t be defined.
