Throw Away the Mold

Hello,

This spring, I’m having a lot more fun with fashion. I’m pushing myself to wear different color combinations and I love it. My number one rule with fashion is: have fun! Fashion is supposed to be about expression. Whatever you decide to wear for the day, it should express how you feel. Never feel compelled to wear something to please someone else. Never dress a certain way because you’re afraid of what others might think. At the end of the day, you need to be happy with yourself. If you don’t fit into a box or a certain mold, own it. Stand out. When God created you, He threw away the mold. Be proud that there’s no one else like you.

This particular day, I was feeling bold and flirty. This off the shoulder ruffled dress helped me bring out the flirty side. I paired it with my metallic loafers to bring an unexpected element to this look and I loved the result.

Just Go With the Flow

Hello!

I’m looking forward to this three day weekend. We made all of these plans and then we scrapped them. Why? Because we didn’t want to have a planned weekend. We really just wanted to rest and go with the flow. I really believe that amazing things can happen to us when we let go. When we realize we don’t always have to have control, we open ourselves up to new possibilities, relationships, and experiences. So, I have no idea what we’re doing this weekend but I’m looking forward to it!

To all of the brave men and women who lost their lives fighting for the United States, I thank you for your sacrifice. I’m praying that God’s peace and love surrounds your family.

Celebrating the Small Stuff

Hello,

I hope you all are doing well. This past weekend I went to a wedding that my husband was in. It’s a great thing when you witness family and friends gathering to celebrate something positive. I had to wonder, how many people (including myself) make it a habit to celebrate the “smaller” events with loved ones? Don’t get me wrong. Of course a wedding is an occasion that should be celebrated but have you celebrated the “smaller” events recently? If you just rocked a test after studying really hard, celebrate. Maybe you’ve been trying to make a habit of remaining positive in the midst of adversity, celebrate that. When you do celebrate, make sure your family and friends are there to bask in your victory. Here’s to all of us celebrating the “small” stuff.

Basic Invite: Making Celebrations Easy

Hello,

I think sometimes we can get caught up in the routine of life. If we’re not careful, something that was once miraculous can turn ordinary. When something amazing happens, we should be celebrating it! One of the things I love most about a new year is having new reasons to celebrate. Turning another year older? Celebrate it! Graduating? Congratulations; celebrate that! Did you just add an addition to your family? Celebrate that! Getting married? That’s definitely a reason to celebrate! Having a reason to celebrate leads to….you guessed it, a celebration. It might be a big event or something you’re planning in your backyard, but having a celebration is a great way to honor a special occasion and spend time with the people you love.

One of the first steps to planning a celebration is picking out the invitations. Luckily for us, Basic Invite has taken out all of the hard work when it comes to selecting invitations. They are one of the few invitation companies that offer a wide variety of colors to choose from. Once you select a design for your invitation, you can change the color of each element on the card to over 180 different color options! They also give customers the option to order a printed sample of their invitation. Which takes the guessing work out of the invitation process. If you needed another reason to love them, Basic Invite has an address capturing service! I hate having to track people down for their addresses. I send text messages or call them but for whatever reason, getting an address is one of the hardest things to do. With Basic Invite, their address capturing service allows customers to share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other form of social media to request friends and family’s addresses which will be stored in the customer’s account and can then be selected during the design process. Check out a few of their invitations below and see for yourself why they’re the perfect invitation company:

On top of that, they have the cutest invitations for birthday parties. Check out this invitation for a birthday party (adult) and kids party invitations:

So there’s no need to stress over a lack of color options, not being able to get a sample, or collecting addresses anymore. Basic Invite is your invitation destination. Right now Basic Invite is offering 15% off with coupon code: 15FF51.

Listen to Your Body-Get Some Rest

Hello,

For the past weekends, I’ve been doing several pop-up shops for Queen Styles Boutique. I love doing pop-up shops. Being that I sell clothes online, I like whenever I can meet customers face-to-face. I can see their reactions to the fabrics and interact with them. It’s an amazing feeling. I had the opportunity to do a pop-up shop yesterday and today. I thought about it and chose to only do an event yesterday. I struggled with that decision if I’m being honest with you. I wanted to work but I knew I was tired. I didn’t want to start a new week off drained and tired. I knew I needed to recharge my batteries. So, I decided to listen to that voice. We went to church, picked out our Christmas tree, and watched Hallmark movies all day…I enjoyed every minute of it. And you know what? I feel refreshed, and ready to take on another week. Sometimes, the decision is tough. I think we’ve trained ourselves that if we’re not working or busy, we must be lazy. There’s a happy medium and your body will tell you, just listen.

What No One Tells You About Being a Girlboss

Hello!

As you may know, I’ve launched my own clothing boutique and I couldn’t be more proud. It’s my baby. I’ve dreamed of having my own business for years but I never thought it would actually happen for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love being an entrepreneur. I love being the CEO. I love doing something that I’m passionate about. However, it’s hard work! Is it just me or did anyone else look at the images of entrepreneurs on social media and think “wow, that looks easy”? I know now that being an entrepreneur means:

1. Fulfilling orders on a Friday night.

2. Answering emails at midnight.

3. Conducting industry and customer research in between meals.

4. Having to motivate myself when I feel so uninspired.

5. Not playing the comparison game with another Girl Boss’s business.

6. Having to turn down social events in order to fully focus on my business.

7. Setting aside hours to plan and create content.

8. Feeling isolated sometimes being that I’m the only employee.

I say all of this, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s an unexplainable feeling of having something that’s yours. There’s an unexplainable feeling to watch your business grow. So, to anyone who’s on the fence about starting your own business: what are you waiting for?

If you have any advice on how you deal with being an entrepreneur, I’d love to hear it! Feel free to leave your comment below. You can shop Queen Styles Boutique and build your fall wardrobe.

You Are Loved

Hello,

Get this down in your spirit: you are loved. It doesn’t matter what you mistakes you’ve made, God has a never ending love for you. God loves you right where you are. He loves the real you and there is nothing you can do about it! As children of the Most High, we have direct access to a God who pursues us with His love even when we make mistakes. As you go about your week, rest in the fact that His faithful love is pursuing you.

Self Care & Relaxation

Hello,

I had a conversation with my esthetician today and we both were talking about things we used to do. For example, we used to take relaxing epsom salt baths but due to our schedules getting busy, we’ve stopped. I get it, we’re all busy nowadays but we need to make ourselves a priority. So I made it my mission today to take some time out for me and have a relaxing bath. It might not seem like much but it was exactly what I needed. Reading this, I hope you realize that you’re worth being a priority on your to-do list.

All Things are Working for Your Good.

Hello,

Know in this moment, God is working ALL things for your good. Let this be your reminder that you are God’s biggest deal, and He loves to see you win! This includes the “good” and the “bad” stuff. He can and will work it out for your benefit. So you can rest easily in whatever is going on in your life. God has you in the palm of His hands. I’m talking about this a little further on my website for my boutique

It’s Okay to Say When You’re Afraid

Hello!

This past week marked two years since having to have part of my colon removed. My husband and I go hiking every year in August to celebrate God’s healing power. Each year we hike the same trail. This year the park revamped the trails and we had to hike a different trail unexpectedly. At first, I was anxious about hiking the new trail. I hadn’t prepped for it mentally or physically. I contemplated turning around(many times) but I kept saying under my breath “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Sure enough, we finally reached the top of the mountain and it was beautiful. My point here is this: don’t be afraid of letting God know when you are afraid. He can handle it. After all, the scripture says “He is made strong in our weakness.” Here are some photos from our hike:
