These past six months have been the most interesting and challenging fun I’ve ever had! Being a mother brings feelings of love, worry, fatigue, and excitement. I’ve learned a few lessons along the way:
1. Surround Yourself with Positive People.
The people we surround ourselves with, truly impacts our internal energy. I choose to surround myself with people who encourage, lift me up, and offer me good advice. As a new mom(and really as a person) I don’t need negative energy around me.
2. Give Yourself Grace
I’ve gotten better at extending grace to other people but you know what I haven’t really done? Extended it to myself. There’s no step by step guide to motherhood. Yes, there’s knowledge and doctors that help you along the way but there’s no instruction manual. I’ve had to extend grace to myself so many times.
3. Remember You are a Person Outside of Being a Mom.
You still need to developed a person outside of being a mother. I’ve challenged myself to new skills and improve skills to better myself as a person. Why? Because being a mother is part of who I am. It’s a huge part but still a part of me. It important to still evolve as a person.
