This week I was traveling between Charlotte, Wilmington and Greenville. Thanksgiving week is usually a little hectic for us because we try to split up time between our two families and it’s always worth it. There’s something about being around family that just recharges my batteries. Below are two looks I wore this past week:
This first look was when we were downtown Wilmington, NC. Wilmington is a very laid-back place and I really appreaciate that. I’ve been waiting to wear tights, so when it finally was about forty degrees I pulled these tights out with no hesitation.
Boots: Old Navy
This second look was when I went Black Friday Shopping. I haven’t gone Black Friday shopping in years! I’ve forgotten how hectic it can be but I had fun nonetheless.
Hat: Old Navy
Boots: Old Navy
It seems like fall has turned into winter in a matter of days here in North Carolina. I was a little thrown off on how to adjust to be honest. I missed the warm weather of summer but I’m so ready for sweater weather. I felt like I was in a state of limbo. When I was growing up, my mom would always equate the seasons changing in terms of weather to the different seasons that we go through as people. One season may be filled with one success after another, while another season may be filled with one trial after another. One thing is for certain though: seasons change. There’s often a period of being uncomfortable during this transition. You’re trying to hold on to one season or maybe you’re anxiously awaiting the next season in your life.
I’m not sure if you’re in the middle of a season right now or a period of transition but the good news is, whatever you’re going through right now will pass. I encourage you to be patient where you are. Soak up any lessons that are in front of you. Don’t get discouraged if you’ve been in one season too long and don’t see anything changing. Gods working everything for your favor right now. Trust in His timing!
While we’re in a state of limbo here, I’ve been layering with scarves to help with the awkward weather. Just like this:
Sweater: J Crew
Boots: Old Navy

I’m hoping you all had a great weekend! I was speaking with someone over the weekend about being creative and their response to me was “I don’t have a creative bone in my body.” I listened respectfully but I disagreed with them. You see, I used to feel exactly like that. I didn’t think there was anything about me that was creative. I couldn’t draw and there certainly wasn’t anything I was good at. So how could I be creative? There are a lot of definitions of the word “creative” but to define it simply, it means to create.
Maybe you can’t draw but are you that person who is always calm in the midst of chaos? If it’s natural for you to remain calm in those types of environments, then you have the ability to create a peaceful environment. That’s creativity. Maybe you have the gift of making people laugh and creating happiness. That’s creativity. I just think creativity means operating in whatever your gift is. Maybe it’s drawing but maybe it’s not. I encourage you to carry that with you during this week. From this girl who loves wide-legged pants to you: you have something awesome on the inside of you that is called a gift. That’s what makes you creative!
Jeans: Michael Kors
Shirt: Thrift Store
Cardigan: Forever 21
Rings: Forever 21
I’m sending positive vibes your way as Tuesday comes to a close. A few weeks ago I posted my “Fall Wishlist” and a pair of sparking boots was on that list. I’ve been searching and searching for the perfect pair and I found them! To me, these boots were perfect because they didn’t look like I was trying to pair them with a costume. The younger me would only dream of wearing these boots. I’ll be honest with you, I second guessed my look before I left the house and wondered what people would think about my bold boots. I know I’m not the only one who has had that thought. Maybe it wasn’t about clothes for you. Maybe you had something to say but kept it to yourself because you were afraid of how others would think of you. Maybe it was a really difficult choice you had to make but you weren’t sure if others would agree with your decision. Well, let me encourage you today to do it! Say it! Wear it! Whatever that thing is for you, don’t second guess yourself. Don’t worry about what others think. People will always have something to say right? So give them something to talk about it.
